What does community mean to you? To The Minneapolis Foundation, it’s a belief that when each of us does better, we all do better. Our vision is a community in which everyone can achieve individual success, family well-being, and regional prosperity. To learn more about our vision, visit OneMinneapolis, a tool to help our community better track, understand, and improve how we're doing and what's working.
Since 1915, generous individuals, families, and businesses have left charitable gifts to the Foundation to strengthen and sustain our quality of life. We use those gifts to ensure every individual and neighborhood in Minneapolis has the tools and opportunities needed to thrive. Under our current strategic plan, our Community Grantmaking supports efforts to transform education, promote economic vitality, and build social capital.
Through grantmaking, advocacy, and public awareness, we support proven and promising local efforts and promote constructive dialogue and action on critical issues. We’re particularly invested in fairness in opportunity and recognize that our community can’t afford to leave anyone behind.
Here are just a few ways in which the Foundation has helped shape the community we enjoy today:
- a citywide plan in place to help prevent youth violence
- increased support for affordable housing
- quality early care and education available to more children
- a more inclusive and better prepared workforce
