CONNECT WITH THE COMMUNITY

Addressing local needs...together

Urban Homeworks volunteers and contractors help build home
Urban Homeworks, a grantee of the Minnesota Helps Fund works with volunteers and locla contractors to repair homes impacted by the tornado.

The Minneapolis Foundation is your gateway into our community. As a localleader on many local issues, the Foundation continues to keep its hand on the pulse of the community. When the devastating tornado and storm struck North Minneapolis in May 2011, we worked with other local partners to create the Minnesota Helps Fund - North Minneapolis Recovery Fund to raise and distribute funds to help those impacted.

We are committed to working with our donors to address emerging and growing needs in our community. At the height of the economic downturn, we partnered with donors to create the Crisis Assistance Fund, an effort provide immediate food, energy and housing assistance for Twin Cities residents struggling to make ends meet. By pooling their charitable resources, nearly 100 Minneapolis Foundation donors contributed more than $300,000 to the Fund, and their contributions were supplemented by the Foundation's trustees, who contributed $100,000, and the Foundation itself, which committed $100,000.
