In addition to Donor Advised Funds and Signature Funds, other fund types at The Minneapolis Foundation include:

• Community Action Funds – Unrestricted funds that creates a permanent endowment to address community needs and opportunities now and in the future. The Minneapolis Foundation has complete discretion over where grants are made.
  
  
• Field of Interest Funds – Funds created and named by an individual or family to simplify and consolidate charitable giving over time. The donor defines a “field of interest.” The Foundation then selects and designates grants to nonprofit organizations working effectively in that area.
  
  
• Designated Beneficiary Funds – Funds created to provide annual support for one or more designated nonprofit organizations. The Minneapolis Foundation invests and manages the funds. Nonprofits can also establish this type of fund as part of their own fundraising strategy.
  
  
• Scholarship Funds – often established to honor a student or teacher or to support students at a particular school, scholarship funds provides financial assistance for qualified students in their pursuit of higher education.
  
  
• Supporting Organization – similar to a private foundation in structure, a supporting organization is an individual foundation separately incorporated and one which maintains its own board of directors. The Minneapolis Foundation provides administrative, operational, investment and grant-making support.
