Education

The Minneapolis Foundation works to ensure access to high-quality education for all Minnesotans, from early childhood through continuing education. We are especially committed to providing educational opportunities to children and youth from traditionally underserved communities and to closing the achievement gap.

We do this through grantmaking, public awareness, community leadership, collaborative initiatives, and convening.

Recent activities to improve education include:
  • The 2009 season of Minnesota Meeting will focus education
  • Approximately one-third of all grants from donor advisors last year supported education (nationally)
  • The Minneapolis Foundation is participating in a collaborative effort to build support for early childhood education
  • Raised awareness of and advocated for all day kindergarten throughout the state
  • Awarded Community Grants to organizations supporting education
