In June 2011 we awarded 56 Community Grants totaling $1.9 million to organizations under our three areas of focus for community impact -- transforming education, promoting economic vitality, and building social capital.
Community Grants are awarded from an endowment created by generous Minnesotans through bequests and other unrestricted gifts, as well as from our funding partners. The supported activities will help achieve a set of key results, ultimately leading to greater social, economic, and racial equity in our community. All funded activities will lead to measurable outcomes for Minneapolis residents.
TRANSFORM EDUCATION
High-quality education that enables all young people to learn and thrive is essential to individual well-being and regional prosperity. Our investment in this area focuses on three key results: student success, effective public education, and community and parent engagement.
$870,000 in grants will support activities to improve early childhood learning readiness, advance research and advocacy efforts, increase parent engagement, support post-secondary school-readiness, and improve Minneapolis Public Schools.
