Smith-McCarthy Funds
for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Purpose

The Gladys M. Smith and Jane McCarthy Funds of The Minneapolis Foundation will be awarding grants up to $10,000 to organizations serving Minnesotans who are blind or visually impaired.
 
Background

The funds will support programs that teach independent living skills or that provide for other educational and recreational opportunities. They will only consider proposals from organizations based in Minnesota and serving Minnesota residents. They do not fund religious activities.
 
How to Apply

Please submit two copies of your entire application by noon on Friday, February 26, 2010. Use the Minnesota Common Grant Cover Sheet and Application Form and include a project budget, organizational budget, list of your board members, and copy of your letter of determination of 501(c)(3) status from the IRS. Applications must be received at the foundation by noon February 26, 2010, or earlier. Hand delivered proposals must be received by noon. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered for review. All applicants will be notified of our decisions by April 30, 2010. If your organization received a grant from the Smith-McCarthy Funds in 2009 and you have not yet submitted a report, please do so using the Minnesota Common Grant Report Form.
