The Minneapolis Foundation and our funding partners awarded the following Community Grants in April 2008.
Systems and Policy Change Grants
The following grants were made for systems and policy change activities within the Foundation's four funding goal areas:

Better Schools Referendum 2008
$150,000
A one year grant for costs associated with publicizing the Better Schools 2008 referendum.
Casa de Esperanza $225,000
A three year grant for implementation of a three year strategic plan that will enhance the organization's ability to provide innovative approaches to end domestic violence in Latino communities.
Courage Center $150,000
A one year grant for support for The Bridge to Independence, a coordinated campaign to improve the lives of all Minnesota adults and children living with disabilities through effective grassroots community organizing, policy advocacy, civic engagement and systems change.
Development Training Institute $150,000
A one year grant for support for the Minnesota Latino Nonprofit Leadership Academy, a new 12-month nonprofit management and leadership training program based on a national model.
Goodwill/Easter Seals
$75,000
A one year grant for support for the "Transitional Jobs Re-entry Initiative - ReEntry Works" to assist men recently released from prison to support themselves and their families through employment.
Hearth Connection $100,000
A one year grant for administration of three regional projects which provide effective supportive housing opportunities for people with long histories of homelessness.
La Escuelita $80,000
A two year grant for operating support to expand and develop new programs including Teaching the Teachers, to help equip teachers to better meet the academic needs of immigrant students and build out La Escuelita's organizational capacity.
Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans $65,000
A one year grant for development and implementation of a Veterans' Crisis Intervention Team to provide street outreach and coordinated services for homeless veterans in the Twin Cities.
Minnesota Council of NonProfits $150,000
A two year grant for support for policy advocacy work including the Minnesota Participation Project and Charity Tax Exempt Education Campaign.
Capital Grants
ArtSpace Projects $75,000
A one year grant for the completion of the Minnesota Shubert Center on Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis.
