Organizational Status
While the majority of Minneapolis Foundation grants are awarded to organizations with 501(c)(3) status, we do consider grants to other groups organized for a nonprofit purpose, e.g., informal, emerging, collaborative. Governmental agencies and other 501 and 509 category organizations may also be considered.

Fiscal Agent
We prefer to make a grant to an organization providing services, rather than its fiscal agent. The organization may then transfer the funds to its fiscal agent for financial management purposes. Please apply in the name of your organization, not that of the fiscal agent.

Collaborative
If a collaborative has a name and the capacity to carry out the activities, please apply in the name of the collaborative. More temporary or loosely organized collaboratives may choose to apply in the name of one of the participating organizations.
