The Minneapolis Foundation is pleased to welcome Russell Betts as its newest Philanthropic Advisor. Betts has more than 20 years of experience in fundraising and alumni relations at major research universities. At the Foundation, he will focus on serving the charitable needs of corporate executives, their families, and the companies they lead.
“Minneapolis has a long history of both innovation and generosity in its business community, and I look forward to supporting local executives as they continue that tradition,” Betts said. “It’s an honor to help philanthropic Minnesotans identify their passions and make meaningful change in society.”
Betts comes to The Minneapolis Foundation from the University of Minnesota Foundation, where he served from 2013 to 2016 as a development officer for the university’s Department of Medicine. Prior to that, Betts spent a decade at the University of Wisconsin Foundation, where he served as Director of Development covering the Southern United States, then Athletics, and eventually the Law School. He began his career as the Director of Diversity and Assistant Field Representative for the Wisconsin Alumni Association. He holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
“Russell is experienced at helping generous individuals and families make a difference in their community on the causes they care about,” said Beth Halloran, The Minneapolis Foundation’s Senior Vice President of Advancement. “I’m delighted to welcome him to the Foundation.”
