Announcing Our 2025 Reimagine Education Grant Round

When the Minneapolis Foundation launched our Reimagine Education grant program in 2021 after the introduction of our Strategic Framework, we knew our community wanted us to invest in collective action to strengthen our education system for each and every child. That mandate is increasingly critical given the uncertainty our schools face today.
Over the last four years, my colleagues and I have collaborated with committees of local community members to review hundreds of grant proposals. While we can’t fund all of them, we are always inspired by the number of groups that are working to create a brighter future for our young people.
As we prepare to launch this year’s grant round, we recognize today’s uncertain climate and the disruption our students, schools, nonprofit partners, and community are facing. Now more than ever, we must be adaptable and innovative in order to build resilient systems that ensure all students receive a high-quality education.
A Sharper Focus on Reading
Our 2025 Reimagine Education grants will continue to support work that sustains and advances systemic changes to promote equity and improve academic outcomes for K-12 students. In addition, we will deepen our investments in evidence-based reading strategies and related training and professional development for educators.
Minnesota has made progress on these issues with the passage of the READ Act and efforts to increase the number of licensed teachers in critical areas such as special education and heritage languages. In these challenging times, the Minneapolis Foundation remains steadfast in our commitment to investing in community-driven solutions that result in lasting change.

TO OUR FUNDHOLDERS AND THE BROADER COMMUNITY: We invite you to join us in supporting impactful education nonprofits and public schools. Repeatedly, our communities have come together and demonstrated the power of hope in the face of turmoil. Today’s challenges do not, and cannot, prevent us from creating a better future. Our team is grateful for your commitment to Minnesota’s schools and students, and we look forward to your continued partnership.
