Isaiah Oliver is the President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. In this conversation, Chanda and Isaiah discover that they share similar paths to their roles in philanthropy. They discuss the support systems that help them lead, the national and local issues affecting the work, and how philanthropy needs to evolve to stay relevant and effective.
Isaiah Oliver
As President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, Isaiah designs strategy and operations for grantmaking across over 700 unique funds and multiple program areas and guides strategic planning and evaluation. He serves as a respected and accessible representative for the foundation, building awareness and goodwill while forging successful funding partnerships with government and regional philanthropies. He was responsible for guiding the foundation’s work and development during the Flint water crisis, a period of unprecedented visibility, growth, and strategic refinement.
Isaiah serves on CMF’s Community Foundation and Government Relations Committees. He serves as an advisor to the Michigan Forum for African Americans in Philanthropy Affinity Group and is serving a three-year term on the CFLeads national board of directors. He was appointed by Governor Whitmer to serve on the Central Michigan University board of trustees. Isaiah is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Civil Society Fellowship, A Partnership of ADL and The Aspen Institute, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
