Two Leaders,
One Shared Vision
Our Philanthropic Services staff is stepping into an exciting new chapter. Two experienced leaders at the Minneapolis Foundation, Andrea Cummings and Maggie McCracken, have been promoted to new roles as we advance our mission of driving collective action to realize strong, vibrant communities.
Andrea will serve as Vice President, Partnerships & Philanthropic Infrastructure, and Maggie will serve as Vice President, Philanthropic Strategy & Engagement. Reflecting our emphasis on collaboration, the Foundation now has co-leaders for both of our largest departments, Impact and Philanthropic Services, as well as co-chairs of our Board of Trustees.
“Maggie has pioneered new strategies for engaging our fundholders, and Andrea has developed new key partnerships and systems. Together, they will continue the great work that has helped us more than double the amount of money we have moved into communities annually over the past decade.”” — R.T. Rybak, President and CEO, Minneapolis Foundation
Andrea Cummings joined the Foundation in 2020, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. In her expanded role, she will build cross-organizational partnerships while continuing to oversee Philanthropic Services’ operational infrastructure, grantmaking systems, and fund management. She began her career as a social worker before moving into philanthropy and fundraising, and has worked in human services, education, community and economic development, and healthcare. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth and a master’s degree from Arizona State University.
Maggie McCracken brings more than 20 years of experience across the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. In her new role, she will oversee the Philanthropic Advising team and lead a comprehensive strategy to inspire generosity, deepen connections between fundholders and their communities, and accelerate the flow of resources toward community priorities. Before joining the Foundation in 2022, she spent over a decade at Target Corporation in marketing and strategic planning roles, and later served as CEO of The BrandLab, a nonprofit focused on removing barriers to marketing and advertising careers for talent of color in the Midwest. She is a first-generation college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University.
